Ready to Test?

Place your order and download the submission form and mail your samples to our lab today.

How do I collect a feather sample?

Gently pluck 2 to 3 feathers from the bird's breast. It is critical that the feather tip (the root) contains fresh biological material. Do not send feathers that have naturally fallen out.

Is feather plucking painful for the birds?

The process is comparable to a quick prick. It is a standard non-invasive method used globally that causes minimal stress and zero long-term harm to chickens or waterfowl.

What details should I include with my samples?

Each sample must be in an individual clear bag labeled with the bird's ID and species. This should perfectly match the information on your printed and signed submission form.

How fast will I receive my results?

Once your samples arrive at our Louisburg lab, processing takes 3–5 business days. Your genetic gender report will be sent immediately via email in PDF format.

Do you test species other than poultry?

Currently, our lab is optimized for chickens, ducks, geese, and swans. For rare waterfowl or specific poultry breeds not listed, please contact our technicians before shipping.
